A shot of Pat (grad student), and Ehsan (Guide), near camp towards the
end of the field season. This was a day when the Caspian Marine layer rose
up to the high country and inundated us forcing a shortened field day.
What else could we do but screw around with the horse left with us by our
favorite mule skinner Khodayar.
In the Iranian high country we use mules and
horses to get around with all of our gear, and supplies. This can sometimes
turn epic..the day after this picture was shot we nearly lost this horse
under a heavy load while descending the Mountain.
We were crossing a creek when this horse
slipped and did a full back flip onto its back in the stream. Fortunately
my bag broke his fall and everything turned out OK.
