Cerro Chorolque (5552 m altitude), a middle Miocene volcanic edifice
at the Altiplano-Eastern Cordillera boundary, southern Bolivia. Preservation
of original volcanic morphology and limited incision of associated ejecta
(visible in the foreground at 3800 m altitude) indicate very low rates
of erosion in southern Bolivia since ~15 Ma, possibly affecting the structural
evolution of the thrust belt [see Horton, 1999].

Cerro Panizos (horizon), near Eastern Cordillera-Altiplano boundary, southern
Bolivia. See Horton (1998, GSA Bulletin).
