1. Outline
This two-day meeting will explore the intersection of
Geophysics and planetary science, including applications of geophysical
techniques to problems on other planets (terrestrial, giant) and moons,
and on planetary- scale studies of the Earth (for example, using satellite
data to constrain Earth models, comparative planetology applied to the Earth).
The main themes of the meeting are to 1) apply geophysical techniques to
processes common to the Earth and other planets
2) relate these processes to planetary
diversity.
The meeting will consist of a mixture of invited and submitted talks on
the above themes. Posters on any aspect of planetary surfaces or interiors are
also encouraged. Instructions for registration and
for submitting talks or posters are given below

3. Getting There/Away
Burlington House is the home of the Geological Society of London and is on Piccadilly
by the Royal Academy of Arts. Nearest tube stations are Piccadilly
and Green Park. Click here for a map.
4. Registration and Cost
There is no fee for the meeting. Registration details to be
confirmed.
5. Abstract Submission and Deadlines
We solicit presentations concerning
planets and satellites (including the Earth)
in the areas outlined below. Submissions concerning
geophysical investigations of
processes common to different bodies, and how
these processes contribute to planetary diversity,
are particularly encouraged.
5. Talks/Posters
Talks will consist of 40 mins (for invited talks) and
15 mins (for submitted talks). There will be approx. 5 mins'
discussion time between talks, and ample time for discussion
at the end of each session. Notes for speakers may be found
here.
Posters can be set up in the Geol Soc on the Thursday morning
and will be available for viewing throughout the meeting. However,
the evening poster session and wine party will take place in
the Royal Astronomical Society, across the courtyard from the
Geol Soc (click here
for a map). The RAS will be responsible for moving the posters
from the GS to the RAS and back again.
6. Events
There will be a wine party from 4pm-6pm on the Thursday evening in
the RAS,
to encourage poster viewing. On Friday tea will be taken at
the Geol Soc. This will be followed by the monthly meeting at the RAS,
and then a drinks party.
